HeartShare and its Family of Services released its InSights Magazine, featuring those in our care, including Rod, Reem, Audrey, and Eric:

 

  • With the help of a frontline worker, Rodexperienced joy and achievement by taking his dream trip to Washington D.C.
  • At one of our schools, Reemenrolled in English classes, which help her participate in her four year old son’s education.
  • Through our Respite/Recreation Programs, Audrey took a break from her role as a full-time caretaker, knowing that her daughter is in safe hands during HeartShare outings.
  • Eric came full circle, now running the foster care residential program that raised him and serving as living proof that the future truly has no limitations.

HeartShare and its Family of Services are organizing a Diversity Committee, which will translate agency documents into Spanish, Mandarin, Arabic and Russian to better serve the diverse people in our care. If you would like to volunteer, please contact jennifer.reres@heartshare.org.

 

HeartShare, through a partnership with American Water, will now provide water assistance to low-income households in 2017. Congratulations to HeartShare Energy Assistance and Community Development for now reaching New Yorkers in need in 61 of the 62 NYS counties! More information to come.

 

HeartShare is circulating the Resource Card from the NYS Justice Center, which provides information on how to report abuse or neglect of people with I/DD. See the Resource Card.

 

HeartShare St. Vincent’s Services received a generous holiday donation for one of its families, which was featured in the Brooklyn Eagle. Read article.

EVENTS

 

There will be a #BFair2DirectCare rally on Friday, February 3, 2017 at 11 a.m., St. Francis College.

 

There will be a Valentine’s Party for HeartShare’s Residential Programs on Thursday, February 16, 2017 at 6 p.m., Gargiulo’s Restaurant. For more information, call Danielle Maurice at 718-422-3283.

 

HeartShare’s 2017 Spring Gala and Auction will be on Thursday, March 30, 2017 at the New York Marriott Marquis in Times Square. More information to come!
